Villancicos (Christmas carols) #3 - Corrido navideño

No video for this one, but it is a great song.

Very Christmasy, and still very Mexican—or Texan, anyway.

En un establo humilde y pobre, (In a poor, humble stable,)
En una noche oscura y fría, (On a cold, dark night,)
Nació el Niño Jesucristo, (Was born the Child, Jesus Christ,)
De la Reina, la Virgen María. (of the Queen, the Virgin Mary.)
El aliento de los animales, (The animals' breath,)
Dio calorcito para el Santo Niño. (Gave warmth to the Holy Child.)

Su papá fue un carpintero, (His father was a carpenter,)
La mamá, virgencita y pura. (His mother, a young virgin, and pure.)
La Palabra de Dios Encarnacido, (The Word of God Incarnate,)
Aceptaron los Santo Novios. (The Holy Couple accepted.)
No hay tan grande amor como este, (There is no greater love than this,)
Servidores de raza humana. (Servants of the human race.)

Una gran luz salió de los cielos, (A great light came out of the heavens,)
Iluminó todo el santo pueblo. (It illuminated the whole holy village.)
Y con eso llegaron tres reyes, (And then there appeared three kings,)
Con incenso, mirra y oro, (With incense, myrrh, and gold,)
Para alabar al rey infante, (To praise the infant king,)
El Hijo de Dios poderoso. (The Son of almighty God.)

Que dicha de ser uno del los pastores, (How lucky to have been one of the shepherds,)
Para haber estado allí esa noche, (To have been there that night,)
Pero en mis sueños y en mis pensamientos, (But in my dreams and in my thoughts,)
Ofrezco todas mis oraciones, (I offer all my prayers,)
Para paz y amor en la Tierra, (For peace and love on Earth,)
¡Y feliz Navidad a todo el mundo! (and a merry Christmas to all!)
