Recuerdos, tristeza y soledad (by Marco Antono Solís)

Like so many of Marco Antonio Solís's songs, here is yet another that is both beautiful poetry and beautifully sung! My apologies to anyone who finds these lyrics a little too painful at the moment. I know just how you feel. Hang in there! : ) (As for the rest of you, I hope you will pay attention and learn!)

Nos faltó tiempo (We didn't have time)
Para decirnos "Te quiero". (to tell each other "I love you.")
O, más bien, se nos olvidó, (Or, rather, we forgot to,)
Siendo sinceros. (if we are going to be truthful about it.)

Y nunca una flor, (And never a flower,)
Ni un verso de amor (nor a love poem,)
Ni un día con otro color. (nor a day that was different from any other.)

Hoy sobra tiempo (Now there is plenty of time)
Sólo para arrepentirnos. (only for us to have regrets.)
¡Cuánta ansiedad (So much anxiety)
Por nada ya poder decirnos! (from no longer having anything we can say to each other!)

¡Qué lluvia sin paz! (What a rain without end!)
¡Qué cosas de más! (What trivial things!)
¡Qué duro saber (How difficult it is knowing)
Que no estás! (that you are not here!)

Fuimos cayendo, poco a poco, (We were falling, ever so slowly,)
En la rutina cruel, (into cruel routine,)
Al ritmo crudo (to the crude rhythm)
De este mundo de papel. (of this worthless world.)

¡Cuántas cosas vanas! (So many empty things!)
¡Cuánta prisa! (Such a hurry!)
¡Qué desierto y sed (What a desert and thirst)
Fue nuestra piel! (was our skin!)

Volaron lejos, (They flew far away,)
Ya cansadas, (tired already,)
De tanto esperar, (of waiting so long,)
Las ilusiones (the dreams)
Que no pudimos lograr. (that we were unable to fulfill.)

Ésta es la verdad, (This is the truth,)
Nuestro destino: (our destiny:)
Recuerdos, (memories,)
Tristeza y soledad. (sadness, and loneliness).
